If your Xiaomi tablet, home appliance or phones was damaged by recent flooding in China, you may be able to get it fixed for free. Xiaomi has opened a temporary repair program for customers in flood-hit provinces, covering everything from smartphones to washing machines. Here is what you need to know, starting with what matters most.

Who Qualifies — This Is the First Thing to Check

The program is only for people in officially declared flood-affected districts. The three provinces covered are Jiangxi, Hunan, and Hubei. Within those provinces, coverage is limited to specific counties and cities, not the entire province. If you are outside these designated zones, the offer does not apply to you, regardless of the damage your device has suffered.

The deadline is equally important: the free repair window runs from 22 May to 20 June 2026. After that date, standard paid service resumes. If you are in a qualifying area, do not wait.

Which Devices Are Covered

The range of eligible devices is broad:

Smartphones and tablets — both Xiaomi and Redmi models are included. Laptops from the Xiaomi lineup are covered. Wearables such as smartwatches, fitness bands, and wireless earbuds qualify. Chargers and compatible accessories also fall under the program.

For home appliances, Xiaomi and Mijia-branded products — including air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, and TVs — are eligible in affected areas. The exact models covered may vary by region, so it is worth checking with your nearest service center.

What You Get at No Charge

Free diagnosis and inspection of your device. Deep cleaning to remove water, dirt, or moisture from internal components. Repair of faults directly caused by flooding or storm damage, such as charging failures, short circuits, and screen problems. At physical service centers, Xiaomi is also providing free Wi-Fi, charging stations, and drinking water for visiting customers.

For large home appliances in some areas, door-to-door service is available on request, which saves you the trouble of transporting bulky equipment.

How to Access the Service

You have three options:

Walk into an authorized Xiaomi service center in your area. Bring the damaged device along with your ID. A purchase receipt helps but may not always be required.

Use the Xiaomi Mall App on your phone. Go to the Service section and submit a repair request from there. This works well if centers are busy or hard to reach.

Call the customer service hotline at 950816 (mainland China). This line can help you book an appointment, check eligibility, or arrange mail-in service if your nearest center is far away.

In some localities, mail-in repair is also accepted for smaller devices.

Important Limitations to Keep in Mind

Only flood-related damage is covered. If your device has a cracked screen from being dropped, a worn-out battery, or a software glitch, that is not part of this program. Normal wear-and-tear and unrelated faults are excluded.

Devices that were opened or tampered with before being brought in may be denied free service, especially if the tampering made the water damage worse.

The offer is not a permanent warranty expansion. It is a time-limited, location-specific relief measure. Once 20 June passes, no exceptions will be made based on the flood relief policy.

Why This Matters

This kind of after-disaster support is rare in the consumer electronics space. Most brands leave flood victims to deal with repair costs on their own. Xiaomi covering not just phones but also large appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners shows the program was designed to address real household needs, not just protect premium products.

If you or someone you know lives in Jiangxi, Hunan, or Hubei and has a damaged Xiaomi device, act before 20 June. The process is simple, the coverage is wide, and the cost is nothing.
